Mona Zamfirescu is a professor of mathematics, she has been teaching at Baruch College, CUNY since 2003. Although Mona has pursued a career as a mathematician, at heart she is an artist who delights in poetry, photography, painting, graphic art, baking and crafts of all kinds. Mona’s interest in creative expression was fueled by and has fueled in turn her Zen Buddhist practice. She is a spiritual seeker and her life and work reflect that. She values simplicity, connection and she draws strength and inspiration from the natural world. Mona is relatively new to the world of poetry, she has started attending open mics and reciting her poems about a year ago. Although for now her art practice is entirely self taught she plans to return to school for a MFA in creative writing in the near future.
