First Friday VIRTUAL Open Mic

First Friday Open Mic for December 2021 is upon us. Join hosts, Larry Power, and Lee Eric Freedman for inspiring spoken word, musical performances and the famous "name your talent" at the best open mic in Swampscott, MA.

This month's featured guest is musician Mike Brison. Mike grew up in Southern California.  He learned to play guitar with his surfer cousins and learned to sing and harmonize in choir, putting all those skills together in bands starting in 1964.  Mike and his various bands played in clubs, events and parties all over Los Angeles - most notably the Troubadour, the Hollywood Palladium and the Kaleidoscope, playing originals, covers, MoTown, blues, rock and singer/songwriter material.  He's shared the bill with, jammed with, recorded with, backed up  and/or performed with The Drifters, Dave Mason, Rev. James Cleveland, the Left Banke, Johnson 3 + 1 (before they were called The Brothers Johnson), Oliver, The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, The Marina Swingers (check out "I Bring Fear" on YouTube), Jennifer Warnes, The Other Mules among others.

As a lover of the blues there was always this draw to move to Swampscott - the Swamp, the home of the blues.  And finally, 2 years ago, he was able to fulfill that dream, where he now lives with his wife and around the corner from his daughter and her family. 

Mike continues to write music, build electric guitars, and perform at open mic nights and PorchFests  His music is blues-influenced, thoughtful, lyrical and melodic.
