Personal Shrines, Memory Boxes: An assemblage of found and personal objects in the vein of American sculptor Joseph Cornell.

Using a humble cigar box as our base, we will ‘assemble’ a three dimensional collage with personal ephemera, trinkets, scraps, found, scavenged and everyday objects. Assemblage is both the process and product of art making. We will create meaning through association so that these random objects come together to make a coherent composite-not only for the creator but the casual observer.

What to bring: photos, ticket stubs, newspaper clippings, fabric, buttons (life ephemera that you hold onto for the memory of it)

What will be supplied: wooden cigar boxes (bring a box of your own if you have a special one), art supplies (paints, crayons, paper), fabric, ribbon, string, foil, old books etc.

Minimum class size: 5
